Exhibition dedicated to friendship of two monarches
Alexander I and Leopold I
14 September - 20 Oktober 2002
The exhibition Two crowns reflects the history
of the russian-belgian relations and is timed to coincide with the
an important event in the moscow cultural life – “The Brussel days
in Moscow”. It isn’t a well-known fact, that the first king of independent
Belgium Leopold Sax Koburg spent his childhood at the russian royal
court and was friends with the russian emperor Alexander the First.
The conception of the exhibition is to provide a new look at the
history of the russian- belgian relations, which are to a certain
extent marked with the friendship of two emperors. The exposition
displays documents, concerning russian – belgian relations, pieces
of art, dedicated to the epoch of Alexander’s reign and the works
of contemporary artists, inspired by the 19-th century european
history.
